This week, California voted to transition to 100% carbon-free electricity by 2045. Facebook said, “We’ll race you,” and is aiming to make the company run on clean energy by 2020.

The city of South Portland, Maine won a major legal battle to prevent an oil pipeline from being built through the city. Last Friday, a federal judge upheld a local “Clear Skies” ordinance that prevented oil tankers on the city’s waterfront.
